South Scotland MSP Emma Harper has welcomed £11 million of investment from the Scottish Government in the region’s social housing.
Shared between Loreburn Housing Group and Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership, the funding will see both family homes and smaller bungalows built in Lincluden, Castle Douglas and the Machars.
Commenting, Ms Harper said: “I wholeheartedly welcome this investment in new homes in our region by the Scottish Government, and the work Loreburne Housing and DGHP have done to ensure the planning was in place for the funding bids to be successful.
“Updating and creating new social housing across our region is a top priority for the Scottish Government, and the Local Authority and I fully support this. These latest projects work towards the ambition from the Scottish Government to build 35,000 additional homes for social rent by the end of this Parliamentary session in 2021.
“I look forward to seeing these projects progress, and to continuing to do all I can to ensure Dumfries and Galloway continues to receive investment in housing and infrastructure to ensure it is attractive to people and businesses.”
