A MAN was woken up early this morning by someone trying to break into his house at Kelloholm.

The householder was asleep in bed at the property in McConnel Street when he awoke at 12.25 am to hear banging at the rear of the house. He went to look and found a broken window.

Police are investigating.

Officers are also looking into a break in to a garden shed at a house in Guffock Road in Kelloholm sometime overnight Sunday to Monday.  An orange coloured 33cc petrol strimmer valued at over £100 was stolen.
Constable Jim Kirkpatrick at Sanquhar said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help us catch those responsible for these crimes.  At this stage there is nothing to link the two crimes however we are keeping an open mind.  Anyone who can help should call us on the 101 number at Sanquhar.”
