MUSIC from India hit the streets of Annan at the weekend as the annual Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival approached its conclusion.

The Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band from the City of Jaipur, making their second visit to the region, took to the High Street to promote their evening concert in the Corner House Hotel.

There was an element of surprise on the faces on some customers out for an evening drink who emerged from near-by bars when the energetic fun-packed eastern sounds echoed through the town centre.

A free show followed later in the function room at the Corner House Hotel and the band earlier put on a concert in Wigtown.

Meanwhile, Arts Festival organisers hailed the 2016 event, which concluded on Sunday, as an ‘amazing’ success with fine weather and a large number of sell-out events.

Chairman Ken Gouge described the 37th festival, featuring clasical music to big name vocalists and comedy to drama, as the largest and most diverse in their history.
