UPDATED: City river search called off

A MAJOR search of a river in Carlisle has been called off.

Emergency services were alerted to reports of a man jumping off the Eden Bridge in the city late last night.
But police today confirmed he had been located at an address in Carlisle and is currently being spoken to by officers and welfare checks are being carried out.
Police and Fire and Rescue Services together with a police helicopter searched the area during the night after a report just before midnight that a man had jumped into the river.
The search resumed this morning with police underwater search team officers, dog handlers, police search advisors, Penrith Mountain Rescue Team, the Coastguard and Cumbria Fire and Rescue searching the river and banks.
