Woman, 71, in court on benefit charges

AN elderly woman has been accused in court at Dumfries of fraudulently obtaining pension credit, council tax benefit and housing benefit totalling nearly £60,000 during the past 11 years.

Valerie Forlow, 71, of Mossgeil Avenue, Dumfries, faces three charges alleging she made false statements to the Department of Work and Pensions and Dumfries and Galloway Council between July 2005 and October last year stating she was in receipt of a pension and no other income when in fact she was obtaining a dependant’s pension from ICI Pension Services.
The case was this week continued without plea for three weeks.
