And Lorna Young, of Dumfries, was at Holyrood this week to see her image hanging in the parliamentary cafe.
The marketing consultant took the photo during a walk last year at RSPB Mersehead with son Alexander and puppy Neo.
And she couldn’t believe it when it went on to win the Harry Benson #SeeingScotland photography competition about life in Scotland, beating 5000 other entries.
Meeting her this week to make the prize presentation, which includes a signed Benson book and special tour of Holyrood, Scottish Parliament president officer the Rt. Hon Ken Macintosh MSP said: “Lorna’s picture of her son and his dog captures a moment between them whilst showing off our country’s gorgeous coastline. It is immediately clear why so many people chose it as their favourite.
“The competition may be over but Lorna’s photograph has been unveiled today and will go on display for our thousands of visitors to see and enjoy.”
Delighted to see her shot on show, Lorna said: “It’s amazing to have won and wonderful to see Dumfries and Galloway’s scenery on display at the Scottish Parliament.
“My photo captured a special moment, spending time with family on the beautiful beach at Mersehead, and I think that’s why people liked it.”
