Five people on board the boat were rescued in a joint-mission carried out by lifeboats, coastguard teams and other emergency services.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency grounding incident involved the fishing vessel Accord (based in Killkeel Ireland) south of the Life Boat Station, Kirkcudbright.
The incident occurred at around 2.30 am and there were no reported injuries.
Damage to the vessel were assessed and repairs made to seal of the hull. There were no indications of leaking fuel oil.
The boat was later refloated in the afternoon and towed to near-by Kirkcidbright Harbour.
Dumfries and Galloway Council assisted the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and other partner agencies in responding to the incident.
A spokesman said: “We had arrangements in place for scenarios such as this, and these have been implemented.”
