Woman accused of driving while drunk

A SHERIFF has ordered the forfeiture of a car worth about £9000 allegedly driven in the vicinity of a primary school by a woman accused of being more than five times over the permitted drink limit.

Margaret Miller, 45, of Loanwath Road, Gretna, pleaded not guilty at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Friday to driving with 114 microgrammes of alcohol on her breath on a limit of 22 at Victory Avenue in Gretna on Thursday.
She also denied a charge of driving dangerously when pupils were leaving the nearby primary school and while carrying a child in the car, driving in reverse gear along a footpath while pedestrians and children were walking on it and colliding with a bush.
Trial was fixed for June.
