Football coach driver 'stable' after crash

FOOTBALL fans returning from a match at Dumfries had a lucky escape on Friday night after their coach demolished part of a drystone dyke.

Around 40 fans on the coach escaped when it left the A701 Dumfries – Moffat Road, about nine miles north of Dumfries.

Emergency services attended and the 46-year-old injured bus driver was taken to the Golden Jubilee Hospital where his condition was later said to be ‘stable.’

Some fans received slight bruising and suffered shock when the bus collided with the dyke but none were seriously hurt.

A Police Scotland spokesman said that everyone had been taken safely off the bus and they continued their journey in a relief coach.
