New-born Sonny soon on the move

HEALTHY baby boy Sonny Moffat had an eventful first day after he was born at the old ‘Cresswell’ Maternity Unit on Friday.

HAPPY FAMILY . . . Aneliese and Stephen Moffat with Zach and newly-born Sonny

He was one of the last two babies at the Bankend Road, Dumfries facility —  just before the transfer across town to the new showpiece Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary at Cargenbridge.

Proud parents Aneliese, 27, and Stephen Moffat, 32, of Annan Road, Gretna were delighted with Sonny’s arrival weighing 7lbs 12 oz, around a fortnight earlier than expected.

The couple’s first son, three-year-old Zach, was also over the moon to meet his younger brother.

Aneliese praised the team at Cresswell and the care she received at the old hospital and during the transfer by ambulance to the new building where she stayed with Sonny until Saturday.

She said to mark their part in local hospital history they were presented with a gift bag for Sonny and a special card.

Said Aneliese: “Despite the move, the care was excellent in the ambulance and in both buildings. It was a really good experience, thanks to the staff.”
