30th Moffat Festival of Running

THE Moffat hills were alive with the sound of runners on Tuesday night.

For the 30th annual Moffat Festival of Running wound its way from the town and round the Devil’s Beef Tub before returning the town.
Taking first place for the second year in a row was John French of Eden Runners with a time of 53.02 and he was closely followed by Paul Graves of D H Runners with a time of 53.40 who took second place and Howard Seal of Derwent AC Cockermouth came third and crossed the line with a time of 56.10.

The top three local prizes went to Annan and District Athletic Club members — Rory Longmore of Beattock finished in 60.12 minutes, Gordon Vivers of Moffat finished with a time of 65.45 minutes giving him second place in the local category and was followed by running friend and fellow Mofatonian Mark Walton who crossed the line at 69.25 minutes.

And the first three local Moffat women to cross the finish line were unattached to any running club: they were Amanda Musgrave-Wood in 73.16 minutes, Liz Dawson in 79.31 minutes and Lisa Hall in 80.39 minutes.
