'Horrendous crime'

JEWELLERY and cash have been stolen from a house in Dumfries in what police are calling 'a horrendous crime'.

Thieves forced entry to the property in Portland Drive sometime between mid October and Tuesday November 3.

And they stole the jewellery which was sentimental value and a five figure sum of cash.

Police are appealing for information and Detective Sergeant Colin McKinstry, of Dumfries CID, said: “This has been a horrendous crime in which a 75-year-old man has suffered significant financial and sentimental loss.

“Enquiries are underway to establish exactly when the crime occurred and I am seeking help from local residents who may have seen any suspicious activity at the address over the course of the last three weeks. In particular, anyone who has seen any suspicious individuals or vehicles in the vicinity of the address in recent weeks is urged to contact police.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 2192 of Nov 3, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
