Councillors have agreed that the Crossdykes development, which features ten turbines, can run for 40 years.
It was originally given planning permission for 25 years.
However, Crossdykes WF Limited argued that the Scottish Government were backing longer lifespans for such schemes.
They said: “In the period since the initial Crossdykes proposal was first mooted, it is no longer assumed that new onshore wind developments should be restricted to only 25 years, with recent permissions issued by the Scottish Ministers granting permissions in excess of 35 years, with a period of 40 years being typical at the present time.”
