Decision week for town chair

DUMFRIES’ Town Board chair is set to finally be selected next week by the Nithsdale Area Committee.

However, it has emerged that two of the shortlisted candidates have pulled out: Mark Jardine and Robin Wishart are no longer in the running as they both say they are currently too busy to be able to devote the required time to the “very important” position.

That leaves the committee with seven to choose from. They are:

Gwilym Gibbons, chief executive of The Crichton Trust.

DJ McDowell, freelance community development consultant and cultural producer.

Alexander Campbell, communications at NHS Dumfries and Galloway and Army Reserves national and local civil resilience and emergency response.

Sitki Nalci, chief executive of Dumfries & Galloway Multicultural Association

Eric Craig, vice chair of DPAG.

Jennifer Challinor, head of research and development at The Crichton Trust.

Ritchie Nicoll, business owner and employer.

The meeting takes place on Wednesday at 10 am.
