TV wedding fever at castle

A MOFFAT castle is set to broadcast four weddings live on television next month.

ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain last week revealed they will be filming the nuptials of four couples at Auchen Castle on February 12 and streaming them live to hundreds of thousands of viewers.

General manger of the popular wedding venue Iain Fleming explained he was contacted by the show as they wanted a Scottish wedding venue.

And within hours preparations were in place to film a taster, aired last week, and begin planning four weddings.

Iain said: “We’ll be live from the castle at 6 am, they want to film something right at the start of the show.

“The first wedding will be at about 6.30 am and then the others will follow about 25 minutes after the last one finishes.

“We normally stick to one wedding a day so to do four in one morning is all new to us.

“It will be a fun morning.”

Over 200 applications were received within days and were quickly whittled down to the final four in order to get the paperwork underway within the deadline.

The couples, one of which is from Glasgow, will stay at the castle on the Thursday night before the weddings ready for the early start.

Iain explained the TV presenters Richard Arnold and Laura Tobin as well as the crew will also stay at the five star castle.

Preparations will start at about 3 am, when cameras will be set up.

He added: “Once the weddings have taken place the couples will be able to have a glass of champagne, or coffee, before enjoying a nice breakfast with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, or that kind of thing. “

“The breakfast will be filmed and aired on the Monday.”
