Members say there has been a noticeable increase in the abuse of disabled spaces.
And they say some staff from Lochmaben Primary School favour parking on the high street instead of within the school’s own car park, which impacts on the number of spaces available in the town on weekdays.
Speaking at the meeting in the town hall last week, chairwoman Pam Linton also said people were struggling to park near the doctors’ surgery and chemist first thing in the morning and at the end of the school day as the spaces designated for blue badge holders were being used by parents and carers taking children to and from school.
Sergeant Joyce Adams of Police Scotland, in attendance at the meeting, said that anyone using disabled spaces and not displaying a badge should be reported to police.
Teachers from the primary school parking on the street from about 8 am until after 3 pm were also condemned by members.
The group felt there was substantial parking in the school campus or at the community centre car park, which is joined to the school’s car park, for teachers to use rather than the busy main street.
A spokesman for Dumfries and Galloway Council said the school declined to comment.
