Top ice hockey job for Richard

A DUMFRIES man has been appointed the new chairman of Ice Hockey UK.

Richard Grieveson, who replaces Jim Anderson, has 27 years’ experience in the leisure and sport industry, both in a professional competitive environment and as a head of service with responsibility for a multi-million pound portfolio of services.
He recently worked with the Scottish Government and national sports agencies in the development and delivery of Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and 2014 Ryder Cup.
Grieveson is currently chair of Voice of Culture and Leisure in Scotland, which is the organisation which brings together the directors of leisure and culture from each Scottish council to provide a strategic lead for the industry in Scotland and to support policy development and advice to the Scottish Government.
Delighted to take on the post, he said: “I am excited by the opportunity to work with the board of Ice Hockey UK and am proud to have been offered the position of chairman.
“I would like to go on record to thank previous chairman, Jim Anderson, for his hard work, vision and commitment. Jim will be a hard act to follow but I am very much looking forward to continuing the journey of improvement and development of ice hockey in the UK.”
He added: “My priorities are to work with the board to finalise and implement the outcomes of the strategic review of the sport, to create a sustainable future and to improve the development continuum for our talented young athletes by creating more and better opportunities to grow the Great Britain talent pool.
“I am driven by challenge and am confident that with the support and guidance of key stakeholders, partners and the board of directors, we will achieve our goals and aspirations.”
