The proposal for the former golf course site in Annan road will go before Dumfries and Galloway Council’s planning committee on Tuesday morning.
And officials are recommending it is given planning permission in principle.
However, developers Greenbank IOM Ltd will have to adhere to a series of conditions, including making financial contributions towards upgrading Gretna’s water supply infrastructure and the primary school, which is already at 80 per cent capacity.
The sum of £2850 per dwelling is suggested towards the provision of additional education facilities at the school and £1250 for each water connection required.
Furthermore, planners want to ensure a percentage of the properties are affordable housing.
A report prepared for councillors reveals a hectare of the site is being earmarked for the business units and they will be separated from the housing by woodland.
The units will be restricted to class four use, as offices or for product research and development or processes which would not detrimentally affect the area.
Previous concerns raised by SEPA and nearby residents relating to flooding have been addressed, but there are still eight objections from locals.
