Commitments’ star excited about Dumfries gig

And Kenneth McCluskey from The Stars of the Commitments, is excited to perform in Scotland yet again on Saturday night.
The Dublin-born singer is one of the original members of the smash-hit group formed following the success of the 1991 film, The Commitments.
He said: “We’re all excited for it and we’re happy it’s going ahead.
“We’ve played in Scotland a number of times and there’s always great audiences, as well as great musicians.”
McCluskey has shared a stage alongside soul legends BB King, Wilson Pickett, Ben E King, Steve Cropper from the Blues Brothers and Sam Moore from Sam and Dave.
The star, who has “huge admiration” for Scottish music and its audiences, said: “There have been a few Scottish guys in the band line-up before and they’ve been incredible.
“I have huge admiration for Scottish music and musicians and I can’t wait to perform our music back in Scotland at the Easterbrook Hall.
“We played with ABC some years ago, and they’re top guys, we’d encourage anybody and everybody to come down, I’m sure it’ll be a good mix of ages in the crowd for the night.”
And while the band are looking forward to a night in Dumfries, music has taken them to venues much further afield, including the White House.
McCluskey said: “Through the years we’ve met some truly amazing people.”
