Mums to latch on for global attempt

BREASTFEEDING mums from around Annandale and Eskdale are invited to help set a new world record.

A Big Latch on attempt will take place in Annan tomorrow morning (Fri) for the fourth year running.
It’s part of a global effort to get thousands of women breastfeeding simultaneously for a minute.
Annan organiser Louise Ross said: “The Big Latch On involves groups of breastfeeding women coming together at registered locations around the world to all ‘latch on’ their child or children at a set time.
“All of the children are latched on for one minute at the set time and are counted by witnesses. Numbers are added to a global total to see if we can beat the previous year’s Big Latch On record.”
The Annan gathering is being hosted by the Bump and Baby Friends group. Previous attempts have taken place in Gretna and Langholm.
Anyone wishing to take part should arrive at The Everholm venue near the river by 10 am to start at 10.30 am.
Non-breastfeeding mums and those with older children are also invited along to support the event.
