Thousands attended the 55th annual event at Park Farm to take in the ‘country comes to town’ atmosphere with fun for all the family.
The highlight of the show was undoubtedly the huge number of entrants in the Galloway breed cattle class due to the Galloway Cattle World Congress bring held in the region this week.
Over 240 delegates from 16 countries across the globe including Switzerland, Isle of Man, Canada and Australia led the grand parade of livestock.
Commenting on yet another successful show, with visitor numbers up on last year, show president David Goldie said: “I thought it was a very successful show.
“The weather made it really and it must have been one of our busiest shows, there were so many extra people there and that was probably to do with the Galloway Cattle World Congress.”
Also delighting the crowds were a chainsaw carving demonstration, gun dog scurry, Young Farmers Tug O’War, vintage tractor display as well as the popular Food Festival tent which showcased the region’s culinary delights.
