The event played host to a raft of great jazz names including legendary New Orleans trumpeter Leroy Jones; founder member of the Average White Band Hamish Stuart; and not one, but three top American blues guitarists.
And afteradecade of jazz in the town, the festival continues to expand around Annandale with Moffat, Gretna and Powfoot, also hosting top jazz artists throughout the weekend.
The all day jazz and blues extravaganza, Take Five, enabled visitors to hear more than 100 different performers, all within one venue, Lockerbie Town Hall, on Saturday.
Consisting of five hours, two stages, nine bands, including young players and singers from all over Dumfries and Galloway, and a bar, the event was a hit with locals and visitors alike.
And new this year was the Jazz Cafe, located within the town hall, which offered a more intimate setting for jazz fans.
Over 1200 music lovers thronged the festival, matching last year’s record breaking total.
Jazz Festival director Derek Gorman said: “Lockerbie Jazz Festival 2016 hit the high notes with a stellar programme featuring American trumpet legend Leroy Jones who played with local young players from the Dumfries and Galloway Youth Big Orchestra as well as leading his own bands.”
