Scottish Bafta nod for actress Ashley

The popular star of Extras and Ugly Betty is shortlisted in the Actress Television category of the Bafta Scotland awards for her performances in the Channel 4 sitcom Catastrophe.
After enjoying breakout success with Ricky Gervais’ comedy series Extras for which she won a UK Bafta nomination, Ashley relocated to the US for shows such as Ugly Betty — earning a Scottish Bafta nod.
And having since moved her focus back to the UK she has enjoyed success with Sky detective drama Agatha Raisin.
But Ashley is not the only talent from the region to be nominated in this year’s awards, as New Galloway’s Sam Heughan is in the running for best TV male for his starring role in time travel drama series Outlander.
The awards will honour the best Scottish talent in film, television and video games over the last year.
Director of Bafta Scotland Jude MacLaverty said: “After another strong year for Scotland’s film, television and gaming industries, we’re thrilled to reveal our nominees for this year’s British Academy Scotland Awards.”
He added: “The wealth of talent and brilliant work being produced in Scotland continues to shine and we look forward to celebrating our winners at another incredible evening on November 6.”
