Three hurt in Annan by-pass crash

TWO DRIVERS and a passenger were injured on Sunday morning in a two-vehicle accident on the A75 trunk road, near the east slip road to Annan.

The collision happened about 11 am when a Honda Jazz, driven by an 83-year-old man from Dumfries, was in collision with an Audi A1 car driven by a 69-year-old woman from County Donegal in the Irish Republic.

The drivers were helped from the vehicles by Scottish Fire and Rescue personnel and, along with the 58-year-old female passenger in the Audi car, were conveyed by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The driver of the Audi car suffered a broken ankle while the two other casualties were treated for minor injuries.

There was some disruption to traffic on the busy Gretna to Stranraer route with the road closed for a period.
