Lest we forget

400 poppies have been created by local schoolchildren ahead of Remembrance Day.

And their scarlet handiwork is now on display at the Crawick Multiverse in time for Remembrance Sunday.

Each poppy represents a local person who lost their life during WWI, WWII and the Korean War, and black poppies have been made in memory of local miners.

Site manager Ian Bell, who has been leading the project, said: “It is so important for youngsters to know about local history and we wanted to get them involved in their own special event as we approached Remembrance Day. They have been extremely creative and shown tremendous enthusiasm and we applaud their fantastic efforts.”
