Sunday marks the annual turn on of Moffat’s Christmas lights and the streets are set to be packed. From choirs to stilt walkers, the tartan juggler to accordion bands, ukulele bands, facepainting and carriage drives-there is something for all to enjoy come Sunday.
Sarah Ottewell, of Moffat Promotions, organisers of the event, wants as many people to come out and line the streets, especially to see Santa, who will do the honour of switching on the lights.
She said: “Will Santa make it down the church tower this year at 1.35 pm?
“Last year the storm, whichever one it was, blew him and his reindeer off course completely, and he only just made it into Moffat in time to get to his grotto the town hall.
“This year he’s determined to do better but he’s very busy, and he’s got to get to other towns and villages so he’s switching on the lights earlier this year at 4.45 pm.”
The fun begins from 11 am with the big switch on at 4.45 pm.
