Gretna Gateway Outlet Village has seen total sales rise by 12 per cent since last year and visitor numbers rise by more than one per cent in the 2016 sales year.
General manager Peter Gardner said: “We’re delighted that 2016 will be yet another record-breaking year here at Gretna Gateway.
“Over the years, the combination of an excellent strategic location, great tenant line-up and product mix, exceptionally good value and superb customer service have proved a winning formula, and we’d like to thank all of our loyal customers for continuing to shop here.”
The outlet village now employs over 550 people and is home to over 50 stores including leading names such as Next Outlet, Skechers and the M&S Outlet.
The results mark the final year of Peter Gardner’s tenure as general manager at Gretna Gateway.
After over than 17 years at the helm, Peter will shortly be leaving the business for personal reasons.
Peter has been general manager at Gretna Gateway since 1999, when the outlet village was officially opened by HRH The Princess Royal.
Since then, he has overseen two further phases of development and the construction of two new car parks.
Over two million customers now visit the Outlet Village every year.
Peter said: “On a personal level, I’m very proud of what we have achieved at Gretna Gateway since 1999 and of what we have contributed to the local economy and employment.
“With over 550 staff, Gretna Gateway is now one of Dumfries and Galloway’s major employers and attracts over two million customers every year.
“The addition of Phase 3 and Next Outlet last year, and of the 300-space North Car Park this year, show that there is yet more to come from Gretna Gateway, and I wish my successor, Scott Wells, and Lisa McNab and Neil Irving, who have been there for 17 and 15 years, plus all of Gretna Gateway’s staff, tenants and customers, every success for the future.
“I have worked with a lot of good people, many of whom have become good friends, and I will take many good memories with me, but it’s time for me to move on and I know I’m leaving Gretna Gateway in capable hands and with lots more to look forward to.”
