Band signed by Glasgow label

Brat and the Bonemen have been described as “an explosion of attitude and style” by Glasgow disk jockey Jim Gellatly, and have been making a name for themselves on both sides of the border.
And now the trio of Josh Kirk on guitar and vocals, Jordan Bigham on bass and Max Thomson on drums, have been signed to Fresh Rott Records, and seem to be taking little seriously but their music.
When asked how long the band had been playing together, Josh said, tongue firmly in cheek: “A year and a bit. We were visited in our dreams by George McRae dressed as a Native Indian man and he told us to play the theme song from the popular US TV show Cheers on repeat.
“Back to back. No pauses. No mercy. Now here we are.”
The Bonemen could not keep playing the Cheers theme tune forever though, and since branching out, playing their own music, and finding their own sound, their fanbase grew, as did the clamour for a music video.
At the end of October, the band released their first music video for Cannibal Holiday, and Josh assured the Dumfries Courier that there was much more to come.
He said: “Many things have been recorded and many have yet to be recorded, so keep your eyes peeled because you don’t want to miss this.”
The Bonemen fired through a 45 minute set to a rowdy Dumfries crowd on December 30, and they now have their sights set on Club Rock in Carlisle, on February 18.
Looking back on the success that the band has had so far, Josh said: “Thank you to our mate Frank, the people who dig the music, and the people who come to our gigs.
“There’s no stopping now.”
