Warrant issued in medal theft case

WARRANTS have been issued this week for the arrest of two men alleged to have been involved in a Dumfries theft which included the Olympic gold medal won by Scottish curler Rhona Martin.

Luke Holland, 27, and Stewart Pettigrew, 33, were not present when the case was called at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Tuesday and only Charlie Walker, 24, appeared in the dock.
All three are accused of breaking into Dumfries Museum in April 2014 and stealing a chain of office, a casket containing an historical scroll and sporting medals, including Martin’s 2002 Salt Lake City medal.
Pettigrew, of Thistle Grove Caravan Park at Collin, and Walker, described as a prisoner at Barlinnie, both pleaded not guilty previously and it was stated that efforts were still being made to trace Holland who last had an address in Luton.
Walker has also denied stealing a car in Aylesbury in April 2014 and Holland is alleged to have reset the vehicle in Dumfries.
Trial has been pencilled in for the end of next month.
