He was chased by the more experienced Snowie Dream, a four-year-old dog from Franny Hill’s kennels at Hawick.
On a good night at Halcrow Stadium for local greyhounds, Lochar Jet powered to an impressive 8.5 lengths win over the same 280 metres trip.
The two-year-old dog, owned and trained by Ian Little of Dumfries, crossed the line at 7/4 with the nearest challenger being Pop On Scarlet from Tina Robinson and Basher Carmichael of Greenmill, Longtown.
Meanwhile, in the final middle distance race of the night, 2/1 shot Mollie won by a head in a nail-biting middle distance race.
The three-year-old bitch, owned and trained by Keith Geddes of Dumfries, snatched victory from the other prospect Granny from Davie Dunbar of Auchinleck, Ayrshire.
