£68k drug haul on M74

A TIP off to police led to the seizure of cocaine with a street value of up to £68,000 from a car on the M74 near Ecclefechan.

And the sheriff at Dumfries was told that as police searched the car they also found nearly £20,000 sterling and 5000 euros in the roof lining.
In court on Tuesday, Faheem Akhtar, 35, from Shawlands, Glasgow, admitted being concerned in the supply of the cocaine near Junction 19 in April last year.
The court heard the police had received information that the car would be heading north and had set up watch before stopping it.
Sheriff Brian Mohan deferred sentence for a month and called for background reports.
