Artistic side to Burns Festival

A VARIETY of artistic workshops took place in Dumfries as part of the Wee Fringe during January's Burns' season.

Highlights included work by D-Lux festival and their Concursum team, Kirsty Turpie’s “Build A Burns” workshop, Loreburn Hall Trust’s community voice project, and many more creative endeavours.

Based at the old Bakers Oven, which became known as ‘Makers Oven’ through the month – truly living up to its name.
Makers Oven’s Oliver Sudden said: “It was a pleasure working for The WEE Fringe, many planning sessions were required in the preparation for the project. Fringe Director Lee McQueen and Kirsty ‘Build a Burns’ Turpie were particularly helpful in the process, and I can’t thank them enough for their input.

“I’m pleased Dumfries now has a proper Fringe festival of its own and I can’t wait to see what happens next! I’d be keen to be part of the next Fringe event.”
