Drug dealer jailed for five years

A BEATTOCK man who was supplying drugs to local dealers in the Dumfries area has been jailed for five years.

JAILED . . .  Jason Jolley

At the High Court in Glasgow, Jason Jolley, 45, admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin in April last year.

Prosecutor Allan Nicol told the court that this was Jolley’s fourth appearance on indictment for misuse of class a drugs.

Mr Nicol said: “Intelligence suggested that Jolley was directly supplying others as sub-dealers and inquiries began to target the drug supply network.

“As a result, several people who were mainly drug users were interviewed and some of them provided evidence against Jolley on the basis they were local dealers working for him.”

The court heard that the caravan at Woodlands, Moffat Manor Country Park where Jolley was living was searched after a tip-off. And inside police found drugs paraphernalia and heroin.

Jolley’s DNA and fingerprints were found on a bowl and spoon which had traces of heroin and on two knotted areas of a packet of heroin.

The heroin was being adulterated and had a potential maximum street value of £64,935.

The court was told that Jolley, who originally comes from Manchester, initially rented a caravan at the Moffat Manor Country Park and then bought the one at Woodlands for £8000.

He has has two previous convictions for being concerned in the supply of heroin in 2008 when he was jailed for 32 months and in 2010 when he was jailed for five years 219 days respectively.

Jolley’s co-accused – and former girlfriend – Sarah Keegan, 32, admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin.

She has previous convictions mainly for dishonesty and the court was told that her DNA was found on a knife which had traces of heroin on it and on a packet of heroin. Her fingerprints were also found on a mixing bowl. A small amount of heroin was also found in her underwear during a strip search at Loreburn Street Police Station.

In the caravan the couple shared a set of scales and 22 knotted bags containing heroin were discovered along with mixing bowls, spoons, bags and a blender, along with mixing agents.

She will be sentenced next month after background reports are prepared.
