Witness plea after street assault

POLICE have appealed for public help to trace a suspect after a weekend assault in the west of the region.

A 32-year-old man was attacked by another man in McDowall Drive, Stranraer late on Saturday afternoon.

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a man running away from the scene of the assault, which happened around 4.55 pm.

He is described as being around six feet to six feet three inches tall, slim build, short dark hair, wearing either a baseball cap or woolly hat, dark waterproof jacket and dark trousers.

Stranraer Police state the victim sustained minor injuries and enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesman said: “If you were in McDowall Drive at the time of the offence and witnessed anything or have any information regarding the incident please contact DC Nicola Crosbie at Stranraer CID on 101 or by attending at Stranraer Police Station.”
