Plastic roads innovators MacRebur, based in Waterbeck, have been crowdfunding with Seedrs and in just a week have attracted over 520 investors.
They were looking for £590,000 of investment to help drive their company and concept forward and take the idea global.
And they hit that figure on Tuesday night . . . and the money continues to come in with £672,340 pledged by yesterday morning.
MacRebur CEO Toby McCartney, 39, said: “We’ve been blown away by the response from investors both here in this region, across the UK and in Europe. People from Portugal, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Croatia, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Monaco and Luxembourg are among those investing.
“Their money will be used to take MacRebur to the next level both in this country and internationally.”
The fundraising campaign will stay open for another few weeks.
Founded last year by Toby and friends Gordon Reid and Nick Burnett, MacRebur produces pellets from waste plastics for road construction. Their unique invention, which is patent pending, has been found to result in stronger and longer lasting roads.
The firm is currently the focus of a £250,000 digitial marketing campaign across London, which was part of their prize for winning the 2016 Virgin Voom award run by Sir Richard Branson – see picture above.
