Loch fest is a sell out, while Lockerbie gets ready to rock

IT’S a sell out ...all the tickets for the second Lochmaben Rock the Loch music festival have been snapped up.

The event, taking place by the loch at the town’s Crown Hotel, made its debut last year and will return on Saturday May 27.

Tickets haven’t been for sale for long but are already a sell out, proving that the Royal Burgh loves a good festival.

Organiser and publican Lorraine Carruthers is thrilled to have sold out. Bands such as Mind Sweepers, Ordinary Affair and Mark it Zero are set to perform.

Meanwhile, May is a busy music month for Lockerbie too.

Not for profit music festival Rockerbie are throwing a Spring Showcase on May 6 at Lockerbie Town Hall. Organiser James Turpie says Lockerbie and the Lochmaben are brilliant locations for rising music festivals.

He said: “Lockerbie does well with music events because, not only do locals like to support events within the town but also because, being on the main West Coast rail line and the M74 we have good communications with folk from further afield.

“With Rockerbie we are lucky that over the six years we have been on the go we have built up a good reputation from the bands that have played here, all of whom have said they would love to come back and play again thanks to the enthusiastic reception they have received.

“Following on from last year’s Rockerbie Goes Yellow event, we have decided to stick with this formula again.”

Five bands – Esperanza, The Lutras, Jamie and Shoony, The Mind Sweepers and The DF118’s from Glasgow – will all grace the stage.

James added: “At the moment we are looking for sponsors so if anyone out there would like to help out please feel free to get in touch.

“The ultimate dream is still to have a weekend long full camping festival but costs for that would probably be too prohibitive and arranging it would be a lot to do on a part time basis. You never know though …”

Tickets for Rockerbie are on sale now.
