Police crack 'secret' teen code

DUMFRIES and Galloway Police Division has released a list of codes that teenagers and young people may send to each other.

The codes are used to disguise what potentially vulnerable young people are really talking about in digital communications.

Examples of codes include PAL, which means parents are listening, WTTP which means wanting to trade pics and 1174 which means so-called ‘nude club.’

Dumfries and Galloway Police say by releasing the information they hope that the code list will help parents to decipher the language which their child is using online.

In turn, they could take steps to prevent the young people being put at risk.
