Man hurt in M74 crash

A CRASH between a car and a lorry on the A74 motorway this morning has left a 54-year-old man needing treatment for 'serious injuries'.

Police and emergency services rushed to the collision near junction 20 northbound near Eaglesfield at 3.55 am this morning.
Both the 54-year-old driver of the Mercedes saloon, and the 46-year-old female passenger were taken by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The man is being treated for serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, and he is currently in a stable condition, while his passenger only required a check-up.
Police are currently carrying out enquiries as to the cause of the crash. All vehicles involved were recovered and the road was reopened by 7 am.
