Son awaits decision in mum’s death case

An interrogation judge is currently reviewing documents relating to the case of Jean Hanlon, who disappeared on Crete on March 9 2009 — with her body found several days later in the sea off Heraklion.
Son Michael Porter has campaigned tirelessly for justice, leading to the case being reopened last August, and this week he said: “The interrogation judge has informed my lawyer that he is very aware of the case, he has read the case, and he has sworn to us that he will have an answer by the end of May of how he wants to move forward with the interrogations, which makes us think that there is something there that he wants to interrogate.”
At the time of Jean’s death a coroner ruled she had died as a result of an accident.
However, a second post-mortem then revealed she had died before entering the water, having suffered a broken neck and other substantial injuries.
As he awaits word from the Greek judge, performer Michael is preparing his third show raising funds for the JusticeForJean campaign and featuring a cast of more than 90 performers.
Serving as producer and creative director of ‘They Live in You’, Michael said: “It’s about trying to keep the fight and keep up the awareness, but also help other people who have gone through a similar situation like our family has.”
He added: “I wrote to all the families that I work with and have done protests with over the years and asked them to write a chronological timeline of emotions from the day they found out their loved one was missing or had died to where they are now — with whether they found justice or are still fighting.”
It will be performed in Bromley, on April 30.
