Michael Cloy, 47, was returning to his home at Kirkton, near Dumfries, when his machine was involved in an accident with a van.
Police Scotland stated the collision took place at Tower Wood around two miles west of Dumfries.
He was the third person to lose their life on the same stretch of road in the space of six days.
Two others died when their vehicle crashed and caught fire on Sunday April 23.
Mr Cloy was riding a Triumph Tiger Explorer motorcycle when it was involved in the accident with the silver SsangYong Turismo vehicle at about 3.55 pm.
Emergency services were alerted by passing motorists, but Mr Cloy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed until early on Sunday morning to allow a full crash scene investigation to take place.
Police stated that the Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
PC Callum Kingstree said: “Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact the Dumfries Road Policing Unit on 101 quoting incident number PDG0097310417.”
Meanwhile, police stated they are waiting on the results of DNA tests to formally identify the two people, understood to be from the Dumfries area, who died in the earlier accident.
Their black Vauxhall Astra burst into flames when it crashed into a roadside barrier and tree near Cargenbridge.
