First look at Butler film shot in region

A FIRST look has been offered at the Gerard Butler movie which has been causing a stir while filming in the region.

Keepers cast the Olympus Has Fallen actor alongside Peter Mullan and Connor Swindells as a trio of lighthouse keepers pitted against each other on a remote island off the coast of Scotland.
The film has just wrapped after a six week shoot on location in Dumfries and Galloway, with a total of three lighthouses having been used to depict the imposing, solitary building at the heart of the story.
And Holywood star Gerard Butler had sparked a buzz while filming at the Mull of Galloway, gamely posing for pictures with fans.
Helmed by award-winning Danish filmmaker Kristoffer Nyholm and from a script by Celyn Jones and Joe Bone, the psychological thriller was inspired by the true, unsolved Scottish story on Flannan Isle, where the crew of a lighthouse mysteriously vanished.
The period film is set on an uninhabited island 20 miles from the rugged Scottish coast, and sees the lighthouse keepers played by Mullan, Butler and Swindells settle into their usual, solitary routines before something unexpected and potentially life-changing occurs.
The men stumble upon something that isn’t theirs to keep, but where did it come from and to whom does it belong?
A boat appears in the distance that might hold the answer to these questions, and what follows is a tense battle for survival as personal greed replaces loyalty, with a path to destruction fed by isolation and paranoia.
Protagonist Pictures are looking to sell international rights to the film at Cannes this week.
