Cakes and cheers

On Saturday June 24 the town hall will host a ladies who lunch event with flowing prosecco, high tea, a nail bar, make up and hair sessions, games and a DJ.
It is being organised by Tracey Wright and Christine Muirhead, on behalf of Lockerbie Academy Parent Council, and all profits will go towards the school’s minibus fund.
Tracey said: “We have just a few tickets left. Come along for an afternoon of good fun and good company.”
Academy rector Brian Asher is encouraging townsfolk to snap up the last few places for the lunch, which runs from 12 noon until 5 pm, and he said: “I am delighted to have the support of an excellent, proactive parent council. They have decided that they will fundraise for the school, to pay the annual lease for our school minibus.
“All pupils will have the opportunity to benefit from having our own transport at some point in their school career, whether it is a trip, travel to another school to support the curriculum or clubs and sport, so this really is a cause that can help everyone at school.
“I commend this cause to the local community and encourage everyone to support what sounds like an excellent event.”
