Cafe serves up Scioche summer treat

A GARDEN centre in Dumfries has become the first in Scotland to serve up a unique scone-brioche hybrid aptly named the Scioche.

And the tasty treat is proving a hit with customers at the Gardenwise cafe on Castle Douglas Road.

The Scioche combines an award-winning brioche recipe with the most loved elements of a traditional scone to offer the best of both bakes.
First launched in London, the south of England and Wales in May, Gardenwise has now become the first to get the afternoon tea delight on their menu in time for summer.
It comes in original or a Sicilian lemon and poppy seed variety and the cafe is serving theirs with a selection of indulgent toppings such as strawberries, blueberries, cream or lemon curd.
Catering manager Janice McDermid said: “We love to offer our customers exclusives so it’s great to be the first in Scotland to offer the Scioche.
“It’s a delicious product and when dished up with fresh berries, cream or curd, it’s a treat fit for a Scottish King or Queen. so we’re expecting big things this summer.”
