For the 23-year-old not only broke the ladies course record at her hometown club last week, but was also chosen to represent her country.
The Stirling University student is the first female to break the par of 68 over the Coatshill course – her 67 two shots less than the previous long-established record which was held by Catherine Williams.
Gemma said: “I’m very local, I just live at the bottom of the course but because of university and competitions I’m away a lot so it means so much to have broken the record.
“I’m very proud and I hope I can now work towards trying to break my own record.”
And the day was filled with double celebrations as Gemma was picked to represent Scotland at the Home Internationals, which take place in Birminhgam early next month.
She said: “I wouldn’t have been even half as successful as I am now without the support of Moffat Golf Club.
“Special thanks need to go to Mitch Murray and of course my parents. They are just tremendous.”
Gemma hit the headlines last year when she lifted top titles at home and abroad.
The plus two handicapper won the English Women’s Open Matchplay Championship and followed that success by clinching the Ladies Individual gold medal at the European University Games in Zagreb, Croatia, as well as the Ladies team gold with her Stirling Uni team mates.
