Bus stop attack

A MAN was taken to hospital with bruising after an alleged assault at a bus stop in Locharbriggs.

Last Friday night at about 10.45 pm, the 21-year-old was at the Auchencrieff Road stance waiting for a bus into Dumfries when he was approached by a group of four or five youths who allegedly assaulted him.
He did not know the youths, who were all aged 17-19 and had local accents. One of them is described as being five foot eight tall with short dark hair and stubble and another had long fair hair.
Constable Bena Murray said: “This appears to be an unprovoked assault on a man while he waited on a bus into town. The attack has resulted in the victim being left with bruising to his forehead, face, ears, left eye and chest which required him to attend hospital for treatment for his injuries.
“I would ask that anyone who witnessed the assault or knows the identity of the youths involved to contact police on the 101 number.”
