Dumfries and Galloway Council say they are looking to fix the problem on Lochside Road, but David Slater who raised the issue says there are plenty of other problems to discover.
Addressing the speed bump, Mr Slater said: “A lot of people have made comments about it on Facebook — but I can’t say what they all say about the council.
“It’s sensible comments, like, ‘Why would you put something like that there?’ and ‘How much is that going to now cost to remove it?'”
However, Mr Slater says there are issues with other disabled parking bays in the town.
He said: “Some of them are on the Whitesands, which are disabled bays as well, but they are full of potholes and the writing’s just totally worn off them.”
And he added: “It’s Castle Street as well; there are potholes and the white lines are worn away.
“It’s a general thing right across the town. It should be maintained, and it’s not being maintained.
“People are parking in them, and they maybe don’t know it’s a disabled bay.”
Mr Slater’s comments come after MSP Finlay Carson last week voiced concerns about a failure to enforce parking restrictions — after this was decriminalised by police in 2013.
In response, council leader Dr Elaine Murray said the issue was being considered.
Addressing the situation with the disabled parking bay on Lochside Road, a Dumfries and Galloway Council spokesman said: “We are in discussion with the contractor who laid the cushion with a view to relocating or removing it.”
