Sam Ridings, 33, is a self employed tattoo artist and father of two, and he has now offered his services for free to make the park a safe environment for his, and other children.
He said: “I started coming a couple of months ago and noticed the glass and rubbish, so offered to clean it up.
“I also offered to help get rid of some of the graffiti and on one of the ramps there was a large obscenity, which I have already covered.”
Sam, who’s originally from Annan, has begun drawing up ideas for new art on the skate equipment.
He intends to paint a galaxy theme on the larger equipment and theme words on the smaller pieces, such as “skate!” and “jump!”
He has also come up with possible ideas to prevent any other vandalism happening and said: “I hope to keep one blank canvas.
“Here I can let the kids use sugar paint, which comes off in the rain, and open up a legal wall.
“I can hopefully come up with lessons and maybe get some help in doing this, and hopefully the kids can develop a skill or maybe get into art at school.
“I think it would stop them putting up graffiti on other places.”
Sam will first have to strip the existing paint off the equipment, with the help of his friends, and then paint the new pictures on dry days.
He became more passionate about keeping the park clean after he, his daughter Marley, 4, and his son Dylan, 6, began going to the park at least once a week.
