Shares showcase for town brewery

OVER £100,000 of shares in Lockerbie’s first brewery are up for grabs.

Company Galldachd na h-Alba are converting the former Wilson and Gilston painters and decorators site on Well Street into a brewery.

The man behind the idea is ex-chef Michael Tough, who now runs a specialist recruitment agency in Moffat, Chefs in Scotland.

And Galldachd na h-Alba Ltd are selling off 240 shares, worth £500 each, equivalent to £120,000 and 40 per cent of the company.

They are hoping that locals will support the brewery by buying shares and are hosting a special event later this year for potential investors.

Director of special projects Tom Bar said: “We are hosting a tapas and music night on December 15 at Sunnybrae in Moffat.

“This will kick off with the reveal of the first beers and the investor share prospectus.”

The company have revealed that the first beer will be called Dryfe Blonde.

And Mr Bar added: “Research is well under way to develop a unique flavour with the hope that when the brewery opens in January 2018 trading can commence right away.

“The festive event will allow the locals of Moffat, Lockerbie and the surrounding areas to sample first hand what the brewery will be producing next year.

“As well as this they will have the opportunity to be part of a local project that has huge potential to not only boost the local economy but to provide employment opportunities down the line.

“The investor share prospectus outlines the key areas of the brewery and where it will be in five and ten years’ time.”

Meanwhile Mr Bar revealed that the brewery will function purely as a production site, unlike neighbours The Distillery at Dalton who have opened the Tasting Rooms bar to complement their on-site gin production.
