Countdown to charity curling contest

The event will be in aid of Marie Curie, the UK’s leading charity for people living with a terminal illness and their families, and will see 80 curlers taking part in the competition to raise funds and awareness.
Linda Imrie, director at Lockerbie Ice Rink said: “Everyone here at the ice rink is really looking forward to the Marie Curie fundraiser in January.
“Curling is very popular around here, so we’re hoping to get lots of teams entering, and if you don’t want to take part, there will be refreshments and a raffle for spectators.
“We hope to create a friendly community event for everyone to come along, whilst raising money for such a worthy cause.”
And community fundraiser Georgia Ramplin, said: “Marie Curie nurses carry out amazing work in the local community, supporting people with terminal illnesses and their families.
“I am confident that the event at Lockerbie Ice Rink will be a huge success, so thank you to Linda, the Lockerbie Fundraising Group and all the staff at Lockerbie Ice Rink who have helped to organise the fundraiser.”
The fundraiser takes place on Sunday January 21, between 2-8 pm.
