Christmas cheer for Lockerbie’s senior side

A FESTIVE feast and first class entertainment got 170 Lockerbie seniors, includ- ing a 102-year-old, into the Christmas spirit at the weekend

Lockerbie’s premier event or- ganising team Junction 17 (J17) organised the special ‘Christmas Day Oot’ for local senior citizens.

And the older generation had a ball at the town hall and were kept well entertained by a host of local acts, including Emma Kennedy, Jan Andrews, Marrianne Webster, Andrea Lockhart, Hazel Galloway, Colin Steedman, Roy “Raj” Jar- dine and Sam Sangster.

J17’s Pogo Patterson said: “The senior citizens enjoyed a festive feast then sat back and enjoyed an assortment of local talent singing Christmas songs.

“Next up the Bon Accords enter- tained the crowd with a selection of Scottish and Christmas tunes.

“To finish the afternoon off, Lockerbie pipe band appeared to rapturous applause aided by Scot- tish dancing from Aejay Caitlin and Lauren. Wow, what a way to send the seniors home happy.”

He added: “J17’s aim at bringing Lockerbie together was evident on Saturday with our youngest helper being only ve years old and our eldest attendee -would you believe- an incredible 102-years-young.

“J17 would like to thank all our helpers, sponsors, entertainers and especially the Cafe 91 for the fabu- lous food and the Lockerbie Trust for funding the event.

“It would be fair to call this our best event yet.

“So what’s next from J17? We have a family day coming very soon. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at Junction 17.”
